Spur Master Gears

Spur master gears are used for composite checking of components by placing the master and component gears in hard mesh on a machine. The machine records any deviation in the centre distance during the rotation of the gears.

Spline Gauges specialises in the manufacture of spur master gears and we pride ourselves on our supreme quality.

Our expert team is able to offer a wide range of internationally recognised standards or bespoke designs to meet any customer requirement. Some of the common standards include:

  • DIN (Quality 3 & 4)
  • AGMA (Quality 1,2,3 & 4)
  • ISO (Quality 3 & 4)

Spline Gauges typically manufactures spur master gears in O1 tool steel which has a hardness Rockwell (HRC) of 60-62 however we can also manufacture in other materials such as high-speed steel which is more durable, offering extended life. Other materials we offer are:

  • A2 (61-63 HRC)
  • ASP23 (64-65 HRC)
  • ASP30 (65-66 HRC)

Specifications

Applications Spur master gears are utilized for composite checking of components, assessing total composite error, tooth-to-tooth error, runout, and functional tooth thickness. This process is typically carried out by tightly meshing the master gear with the component gear on a machine that measures the deviation in center distance as the gears rotate.
Diameter Min 6mm - Max 400mm
Pitch Min: 0.3 Mod / 85 DP - Max: 10 Mod / 2.54 DP
Helix Angle 0-50 Degrees
Materials O1, A2, ASP23, ASP30, other materials on request
