Top Quality Master Gear Supplier
External and internal Master Gears are used for the composite checking of components. This is generally achieved by putting the master and component gears in hard mesh on a machine that records the deviation of centre distance during the rotation of the gears.
External master gears may also be used for evaluating a gear system for noise, vibration and harshness (NVH), known as single flank roll testing. Whereas internal master gears are used to verify the accuracy of internal gear teeth and ensure proper mesh and alignment.
Design & Quality
As a global master gear manufacturer and supplier, Spline Gauges Ltd specialises in manufacturing both internal and external master gears and we pride ourselves on our supreme quality.
We are also able to offer master gears in a wide range of internationally recognised standards to meet any customer requirements across the world, ranging from DIN 867 or ISO 53 standard 20⁰ pressure angle profiles to more complex asymmetric master gear tooth profiles.
DIN 867 and ISO 53
DIN 867 and ISO 53 provide guidelines for the basic rack tooth profile used in the manufacture of involute teeth on cylindrical gears. These standards define the fundamental geometry of the tooth form, including pressure angle, addendum, dedendum, and root clearance, ensuring consistent meshing characteristics and interchangeability between gears produced by different manufacturers. Compliance with DIN 867 and ISO 53 supports accurate gear generation, predictable load distribution, and reliable performance across a wide range of industrial applications.
External Master Gear Specifications
| Applications | Master gears are utilized for composite checking of components, assessing total composite error, tooth-to-tooth error, runout, and functional tooth thickness. This process is typically carried out by tightly meshing the master gear with the component gear on a machine that measures the deviation in center distance as the gears rotate. |
